Small Groups

There are a variety of small groups that people are welcome to explore.

  • Readers group that meets monthly to have conversation on a chosen book.
  • Peace and justice interest group that meets monthly to discuss issues and plan activities relating to peace and justice issues.
  • Slow cookers group that gets together to slow cook and common meal, exchange recipies and while cooking, socialize and have fun.,
  • Folk singing group that meets monthly to play folk music and sing together.  They sometimes will bring their music and songs to the Sunday meeting.
  • Mom’s small group that get together to support each other.  They enjoy some adult time and help each other with issues relating to children and family life.
  • Relationship groups meet on a monthly or weekly basis for fellowship, prayer, discussion, discernment, friendship and support.  In addition to small groups, we have various parties and share ‘rotating potlucks’ in homes during the winter months. Participants are encouraged to choose to become involved in small groups to develop shared community and trust.
  • Yearly Church retreat at Camp Amigo.  This event happens the first or second weekend in January at Camp Amigo near Sturgis Michigan.  Here the Shalom community gathers to grow, laugh, play games, toboggan if there is snow, square dance, eat and share together, and just have a good time.  Everyone is encouraged to come and if you cannot afford the cost, a way to attend will be provided.  Children are most welcome.
  • Rotating potlucks.  During the months of January, February and March, we gather in different homes each month to share an meal and enjoy mutual fellowship.
